Women in Menopause Take New Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy

March 26, 2010 by biotechcheck.com · Leave a Comment

An inspiration and a proprietary method of dosing bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) started out as a “thought experiment.” One California-based author and researcher named T.S. Wiley asked the question, “If hormone replacement was made of real bio-identical hormones and dosed to mimic the ups and downs of the hormone blood levels in a normal menstrual cycle in a 20 year-old woman, would all of the symptoms and disease states of aging decline or even, disappear?” It just might be that it was the rhythm that was always missing from other regimens, she found, to the surprise of many others.

While writing a book for women in the life stage of aging, one California-based reseacher and writer asked an important question. T.S. Wiley asked,”If hormone replacement was made of real bio-identical hormones and dosed to mimic the ups and downs of the hormone blood levels in a normal menstrual cycle in a 20 year-old woman, would all of the symptoms and disease states of aging decline or even, disappear?”

To her surprise, and also many others, it just might be that it was the rhythm that was always missing from other regimens.

Tens of thousands of women are taking her Protocol. Their libido is improved, and they look and feel much better. But there are still many women who are still confused about hormones, in the wake of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Women’s Health Initiative (WHI). Doctors became leery and made it difficult to get hormones. Getting legitimate insurance-covered physicians to prescribe even bio-identical hormone molecules has, for the last twenty-years or so, also been a challenge.

This cannot be said for statically dosed forms of BHRT. What can be said, though, is that the WHI has proven that synthetic hormones are dangerous. The assumption among those using bio-identical hormone regimens is that they are safer. Keep in mind that it could have been the synthetics that may have caused harm not just because they were not bio-identical hormone molecules but because of the way they were statically dosed.

However, Wiley’s new delivery system consists of bio-identical estradiol and progesterone in a topical cream preparation dosed to mimic the natural hormones produced by a body that is around 20 years-old. The creams and their amounts vary throughout the 28 day female cycle, and mimic hormone levels of youth.

“I do not think I would be here today if I did not discover this new protocol. Severely depressed, I went everywhere for help and tried everything. My physical symptoms of bleeding for over one year just would’nt stop. And I felt just like other women that were described in Somers’ book Ageless, going from one doctor to another and getting nowhere. I was ready to commit suicide. If I could take anything on a desert island other than my dog, it would only be my Wiley Protocol hormone creams,” said Marla Mintz.

The only BHRT developed under the scrutiny of an Oncologist. Over the last three years a preponderance of anecdotal evidence has been gathered in over a thousand women ages nineteen to ninety that show evidence that this protocol is safe and effective.

Kristin Gabriel is the marketing communications director for T.S.Wiley, a medical writer and researcher in chronobiology, environmental endocrinology and circadian rhythmicity. Wiley is the author of “Sex, Lies & Menopause,” and the also the developer of The Wiley Protocol, bio-identical hormone replacement therapy.

How to Make Bio Diesel

March 26, 2010 by biotechcheck.com · Leave a Comment

It feels great to fill up your vehicle with inexpensive, clean, renewable, non-foreign fuel!

Bio diesel reduces pollution up to 90% because it has no sulphur in it and adds almost no carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. Bio Diesel comes from plants that take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and release oxygen. The plants convert the carbon dioxide to oil so when the oil is burned and carbon dioxide is released, it is a small net increase of carbon dioxide. Because it comes from plants it is renewable. It is also easy on your wallet because it only about $1.50 per gallon to make. The fact that we do not have to buy it from foreign countries is also a huge bonus .

Bio diesel can be used in any regular diesel engine such as cars, trucks, tractors, heavy equipment and even generators without modification. It can be used in any combination with petrol diesel from 100% (B100) to 1% (B1). We usually run B100 in the warm months and B50 to B75 in the colder months to keep the fuel from jelling.

Making your own Bio diesel does take some time and equipment but the process is relatively simple. It is a “low tech” process so almost anyone can do it.

I have always felt that the grass roots public will have to solve this energy crisis. For some reason I do not have confidence that big government, big automakers, and big oil companies will ever solve the problems of pollution, cost and foreign dependence. Maybe it is the fact that they do not want to solve these problems and in fact they have a vested interest in keeping things the way they are, which means unbelievable profits, and/or tax revenues and tremendous power. That is why they want to build a Hydrogen Economy so they can continue to have control over the energy. Whereas, Bio diesel could be done by any number of small producers, which would eliminate the ability of a few huge companies or suppliers to control the energy and the prices.

There is not near enough land available to produce enough vegetable oil for our fuel needs using, corn, soy, rapeseed or palm oil but there is enough land available to produce enough vegetable oil for our fuel need using algae. More on this topic later in our series about Bio diesel.

For now lets see how to make our own Bio diesel.

The first thing that you need to find out is what regulations (if any) your local government (usually County) has on picking up and transporting used vegetable oil. Most smaller counties have no regulations and require no permits. Some of the larger counties do, so check with the Health Department of your county and see if a permit is required and what it takes to obtain one. The other permit that may be required is a processing plant permit.

Check this at the same time. Hopefully there will be none required in you area. If there are permits required you must take this into account when looking at the total cost of producing the diesel. One individual in my county even moved to a neighboring county so he could make his own fuel.

The second step is to locate a supply of used fryer oil. At first this may seem daunting, but as you get into it you realize that there are many sources for oil. Restaurants have been our best source but grocery stores, hospitals, retirement homes, private school kitchens, festivals, large churches that have commercial kitchens, gas stations that sell fried chicken etc. all have oil they need to dispose of.

In the next article we’ll go into more detail about this process.

How to Reset the BIOS Password in Dell PCs

March 26, 2010 by biotechcheck.com · Leave a Comment

Knowing how to reset the BIOS Password in Dell computers is now necessary for system administrators and even casual users. Avoid problems by resetting your BIOS passwords in the correct manner. Having a password installed in the BIOS of your Dell computer is an efficient means of providing security, and for those that share one PC, it is even a necessity. However, while a default password is setup when you purchase the machine, most do not know how to turn it off or change it.

There are several problems that can arise, such as when the HD is protected and can only be accessed by entering the Dell password. In some cases, a person might forget what the password is, making it impossible to access the Dell computer.

Fortunately there is a way around this problem, but it is important that you understand some basic concepts to avoid any mistakes.

The BIOS

BIOS stands for basic input Output System. It is present in all PCs, not just Dell. It is the one that starts such processes as the keyboard, mouse, memory, video card etc. In other words, it is the very first application that runs when you turn on the computer. Because of the vital functions that it performs, it is important that should you decide to reset the Dell BIOS password, you follow all the directions carefully.

Resetting the Password in a Dell Dimension PC

The first thing that you will need to do is locate the 3 pin CMOS password and reset jumper. It is usually on the motherboard. If you have no experience in handling computer hardware, you should call a qualified technician to do the work for you.

But if you want to do it yourself, open the Dell PC case, and carefully remove the jumper plug from the pins marked 1 and 2. Next put the plug on the pins numbered two and three. Wait for about ten seconds, and then alter the plug on pins 1 and 2. If done right, you will be able to reset the password.

Dell Optiplex

For the Dell Optiplex, you need to spend some time studying the user’s manual specifically dealing with the layout of the system board, as the process is more complex. The first thing you will have to do is to take out the password jumper. Have your Dell User Guide in hand, because finding it can be difficult. When you find this CMOS jumper, gently pull it out.

As with the Dell Dimension you need to remove the jumpers from the first and second pins. Put them on pins 2 and 3. After a minute or so, you can put it back on pins 1 and 2.

Again, it has to be emphasized that resetting the BIOS passwords on Dell computers are delicate processes, and should only be undertaken by the experts. More often than not, users, especially new ones, should have a technician perform this task.

If you believe that you can do it yourself, you need to be certain that you have thoroughly gone over the layouts of the system. Also make sure that you will be working in an uncluttered environment. It is all too easy to lose sight of those jumpers.

Making Bio Diesel

March 26, 2010 by biotechcheck.com · Leave a Comment

Bio diesel is not a new concept it has been around for quite some time, it is largely the idea of using oils such as vegetable oil and canola to power a diesel vehicle. This is not really a strange concept since the first diesel engine was not made to run on our modern day fossil fuels, but instead was run on peanut oil.

Diesel motors do not require the same refined process that is used with modern cars, this in mind diesel engines are not designed for smooth high powered running either, they are more like the draft horse of engines, and will generally last a lot longer than a normal car motor.

Many people who make bio diesel themselves use either used cooking oils or grow crops of canola, and crush it to get oil. Ideally if you have the acreage to grow a crop of canola this is the best method as you are getting clean oil to begin making bio diesel so no time will be wanted in the process of cleaning it. Although used oil from fish and chip shops is just as effective provided that you clean and drain it properly the end result is just as good.

There are many different methods available for making Bio Diesel, A simple one that I have found uses the following ingredients: used cooking oil, Methanol, Sodium Hydroxide. Please note that this procedure is risky and I do not recommend making biodiesel without further research of the process, these are just general guidelines of the making process, if you wish to actually make your own bio diesel please consult expert companies or professionals.

Note that the oil must be heated and drained twice to ensure that you have got all of the muck out of it, if you don’t take the time to do this you will block up your fuel filters. It is advisable to begin with a test batch of bio diesel, this is easily done by using kitchen scales and a blender, with a ratio of 6 grams of sodium Methoxide to 1 liter of cooking oil. This measurement is only a guide that is why you do a test batch, to find out the exact calculation that will be required to make a larger batch.

Heat the oil, add the Methoxide solution and mix this in the blender, and let the mixture stand to settle. If the test batch is successful you will see that the glycerin has sunk to the bottom of the mix once settled, Glycerine looks black, and sinks to the bottom of the blender, but the bio diesel will be an amberish color and will float to the top. This means you have separated the mixture and changed the molecular structure of the oil, it can never revert back to its original status again.

Once you have your calculations correct you can start mixing bigger batches, You will then need to make up a plant for handling larger amounts of oil. There are blue prints of designs all over the internet, they vary in design, just as much as the recipe for bio diesel does! Find one that you feel is easy to make and understand.

On a final note, be sure that you always test the oil first as once you have began the process you cant change your formula. So take care to make sure that all of your calculations are correct before trying to make larger batches. When working with Methanol and Sodium Hydroxide be very careful to take safety precautions to protect yourself from burns, or injury.
