Position Description
Provide Quality Assurance Engineering solutions and support for the manufacture of hybrids used in implantable grade, medical devices.
Position Responsibilities
Support component and material acceptance activities required for the manufacture of implantable grade medical devices. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to 1) proactively implement systemic improvements within incoming material acceptance processes to ensure long term component/material calibre and 2) wage regular support for line testing, dimensional measurements, inspection, and for the prevention of supplier calibre issues. This position will own process development and sustaining responsibilities associated with the Incoming Acceptance area. This could include, but is not limited to, the following:
?Supporting efforts to define process stipulations and develop specifications.
?Acting as a point of contact and project lead for calibre issues
?Applying Six Sigma problem solving skills and mentoring other engineers in the application of problem solving techniques to resolve complex issues
?Leading the definition and implementation of effective calibre systems and metrics.
?Providing calibre assurance engineering support for both development and process improvement efforts.
The candidate is expected to define and drive a preventative culture that improves product quality, manufacturability and productivity while ensuring compliance to all applicable ISO standards. The position will involve writing detailed documentation, and working closely with process engineers, component, and product engineers as well as production staff to resolve day-to-day issues and complete projects for product quality. The candidate must exhibit the following:
?Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the calibre assurance field; such as statistical analysis, process control, reliability testing and effective calibre systems.
?Ability to wage technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, and practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
?Ability to work under only general direction. Independently determine and develop approach to solutions. Work will be reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
?Ability to complete complex projects. Failure to obtain results or the supplying of erroneous decisions/recommendations could result in serious delays or expenditure of resources.
?Ability to handle frequent inter-organizational and outside supplier contacts. Represent the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with assigned projects.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Bio or Materials Engineering
4+ years experience in the electronic packaging/assembly industry
Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment and/or in the development and implementation of calibre systems
Understanding of Incoming Acceptance processes and supplier control
Ability to utilize calibre and statistical tools to resolve problems
Ability to comprehend and implement calibre stipulations and processes in a wide variety of situations
Ability to independently drive projects to completion within a work environment defined by a complex system of calibre requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication
Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Bio or Materials Engineering
7+ years in the electronic packaging/assembly industry
Experience in Supplier Quality Assurance for the medical device industry
Six Sigma Black Belt
Physical Job Requirements
Ability to travel to material/component suppliers
Ability to work in a clean room environment
Ability to complete Microscope, Fine/Close work
